| TEST MULE DOES NOT = ACTUAL PRODUCTION CAR the car you think is a skyline is in fact a G35 hacked up internally to fit the running gear for the car in development (skyline)
automakers do this all the time. It in NO WAY means that the new car will look remotely like a G35. When the new corvette was being tested, they crammed the internals in a C5, when the new 911 was being developed the crammed it into hacked up 996's, the company finds a car that will require the least amount of hacking up (engine mount points, suspension mount points, etc etc) and make ugly bulges here and there in order to make everything fit so that they can see how it all works in motion. Some auto makers (like nissan in this case) actually try to make the test mule look as much like a current car as possible on the surface. You can see the G35's fenders are bulged and repainted, the front airdam is finished. They buy into the philosophy that they can fool people into not recognizing the car as a test mule. Others, like GM, dont give a crap if you know it is a test mule and they duct tape bodywork bulges and leave the car looking like frankenstein after crashing through a duct tape factory, because they decided since you can tell shit from shine-o then they dont need to waste money and time trying to make it pretty. Nissan has never intended to make the new skyline look like the old G35 EVER. How retarded would that be? Honestly?Could you imagine the next Viper being designed to look like the current Stratus? It is ludicrous. The next Corvette designed to look like the current GTO? laughable.
You dont spend untold millions on developing your flagship performance car just to give it the styling and bodywork of an inferior current model!!! Magazines like SCC and those other rice-a-roni publications are written by asshats would dont know the first thing about the automotive industry and they tend to be the ones who propogate this assinine thinking. This is why they never get any exclusive tests on new performance cars, because they have zero credibility. About the only part of this picture that you can say is actually the new skyline MIGHT be what appears to be rear diffusers for the new car. So to reiterate again redundant TEST MULES DO NOT = NEW CAR
